Marked by a sustained program that gave pride of place to the field (introduction to life in the field) and shooting instruction, this training allowed young trainees to discover military discipline, the infantry spirit and the importance of cohesion within a military unit.
Highly motivated and proud to learn, 6 girls and 10 boys successfully completed the course. They received their beret accompanied by the insignia of the marine infantry paratroopers from the hands of the corps chief, Colonel Fabien Striffling, during a ceremony at the Dupuis battalion chief barracks in the presence of their families. These 16 new reservists immediately joined the sections of the company and will soon be projected on the missions devolved to the "Bourbon", in particular those of sovereignty over the Scattered Islands or guard of military rights-of-way.
Of particular note on this session, the great motivation and success of the group of women who arrive at the top of the final ranking. The six young women distinguished themselves by their spirit of cohesion and mutual aid, thus showing by example the strength of a united troop.
Recall that the 2nd Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment, based in Pierrefonds (Saint-Pierre), is the only overseas parachute regiment immediately projectable in the southern indian Ocean area and constitutes the Land component of the FAZSOI in Reunion.
