It was created in 2005 to bring together in a single type force the Tactical Divers Command and the Marine Command centralizing the capacity of special forces operations in a single unit.

Its function is, through the Special Forces Task Groups that are organized, to execute special operations that contribute to the achievement of the strategic objectives foreseen in the current institutional and joint planning, for the benefit of the operational, joint and/or combined commands available to the Comoper.

Operators are prepared to be able to execute and carry out missions of high, medium and / or low complexity, which are developed at sea, air or land. To fulfill this role, they require ongoing training both to defend the country in the event of conflict and to be able to provide humanitarian assistance.

The Comfues troops carry out constant training together with other areas of the Institution, such as Naval Aviation, the units of the National Squadron or the Submarine Force, making teamwork fundamental to successfully achieve the missions entrusted to them.
