After the coordination between the National Defense Headquarters for the provinces of Arauco and Biobío and the Provincial Presidential Delegation of Arauco, this Tuesday, October 4, the transfer and installation of six containers enabled as an outpost for the personnel of the Marine Corps of the Chilean Navy was completed. that is pre-positioned in the commune of Contulmo fulfilling security tasks within the framework of the State of Constitutional Emergency Exception.
The logistical equipment was delivered by the Provincial Presidential Delegate of Arauco, Humberto Toro, to the Commander of the Task Group, Marine Frigate Captain Francisco Cabezón, who supervised the installation work in the dependencies that Carabineros de Chile has in this commune of the southern cone of the province of Arauco.
Delegate Toro pointed out that this logistical coordination is intended to support the deployment of Armed Forces personnel, "so that they spend the night and have permanence in the commune during the State of Constitutional Exception, so that they join patrols in the urban and rural areas of Contulmo, depending on the security plan that is developed to ensure and strengthen the security of the territories." Indicated.
In relation to the deployment of Navy personnel to the communes of Contulmo and Tirúa, the Chief of National Defense for the provinces of Arauco and Biobío, Rear Admiral Juan Pablo Zúñiga, indicated that this is due to the modification of Decree 189, which seeks to take measures to protect human lives.
"We decided to reinforce the deployment in these two areas of the province of Arauco by positioning a team of Marines permanently in these places, which now have this outpost installed in dependencies provided by the Carabineros de Chile, in order to be a support and a contribution of the Armed Forces in all the tasks provided in this State of Constitutional Exception; in such a way, to maintain the connectivity of the communes and the security of citizens, responding in a faster and more effective way, together with Carabineros, to a possible police contingency, "he said.
