콜롬비아 해병대 Aboard the Colombian Navy, 27 Marines fulfill the dream of being a Bachelor

The Regular Marines were financially sponsored during the academic process by crew members of the ARC Leguízamo Naval Base.

In the main auditorium of the ARC Naval Base "Leguízamo" located in the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo – Putumayo, thanks to the support and commitment of the Marines of Colombia with the educational development of the crew of the Unit, it was possible during the year 2022 to contribute to the educational process of 27 Regular Marines who with responsibility and sacrifice managed to obtain the title of academic bachelors of the Educational Institution EDUCAR Florencia.

With 19 years of age, Marine Jean Carlos Villarreal Herrera currently serves in the facilities of the Southern Naval Force of the Colombian Navy in Puerto Leguízamo – Putumayo. During his time in the military, he has learned that with discipline and will everything can be achieved, with that conviction he began his academic process from scratch because when he was only ten years old, he abandoned his studies to take care of his adoptive parents, working for arduous days in the field to be able to help his family financially in San Jacinto – Bolívar.

After his training phase at the Marine Corps Training Base located in Coveñas – Sucre, as a Marine he swore to defend the homeland, being destined to continue his service in the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo – Putumayo, a place away from his home, where he arrived wanting to serve and learn from the dynamics of military life but at the same time decided that he wanted to fulfill his dream of being bachelor.

Learning to add, read and express oneself has been a challenge for Infante Villarreal, who thanks to the semi-personalized process with a teacher has made significant progress that allows him to achieve this important goal, to be able to graduate as a bachelor. He will return home next February 2023, with his military notebook and his bachelor's degree to make his family proud, overcoming his limitations, so much so that he dreams of continuing a professional career as an engineer.

The Colombian Navy through the Southern Naval Force continues with the commitment to comprehensively train the crew of the Naval Institution, educating leaders with skills and capabilities that allow from each of the specialties to contribute significantly to the construction of the country.
