lthough the Estonian Defence Forces has a relatively small selection of combat vehicles, the Army has a large variety of different transport and support vehicles. The first vehicles what entered the service in the restored Estonian Army in 1991 were mainly Soviet background armoured personnel carriers and military vehicles. With the last 15 years the Army logistics support has increased year by year. Most of the modern military transport vehicles have either received as a foreign aid or been bought from Germany, United Kingdom and Sweden. The Estonian Army has more than 1,000 infantry and equipment transport vehicles. The Estonian Defence Forces will improve in the following 8 years the ground forces combat vehicle park. Armoured unit formations are expected to receive more attention and funding between 2008 and 2015. The weakness of the Estonian ground forces lays in the lack of modern combat vehicles such as tanks, armoured personnel carriers, self-propelled artillery and mobile air defence vehicles.
