BAE Systems has secured a follow-on contract from the US Marine Corps (USMC) to deliver 33 additional Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACVs).

The contract modification, valued at around $169m, will represent the second lot of full rate production (FRP) of ACVs.

Developed in collaboration with IVECO Defence Vehicles, the ACV is highly mobile vehicle that can conduct rapid ship-to-objective manoeuvres. It enhances the combat power of the Fleet Marine Forces.

BAE Systems amphibious programmes director John Swift said: “BAE Systems is dedicated to helping the marines meet their expeditionary and Force Design 2030 needs.

“This follow-on contract is a testament to our commitment of getting this critical capability to the warfighter and supporting the Marine Corps’ priorities.”

BAE Systems has already been contracted to provide two variants of the ACV vehicles to the Marine Corps, the ACV personnel variant (ACV-P) and the ACV command variant (ACV-C).

Additionally, the firm has secured a design and development deal for a 30mm cannon variant (ACV-30). A recovery vehicle (ACV-R) is also planned.

The USMC has also contracted BAE Systems to conclude a study of integrating Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle Command, Control, Communication and Computers/Unmanned Aerial Systems mission payload into an ACV variant.

In December 2020, BAE Systems secured a $184m Lot I FRP contract from USMC for 36 ACVs.

Later in February last year, the company received a FRP contract for additional 36 ACVs.

The USMC took the delivery of the 100th Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) ACV last fall. Currently, the ACV team is on schedule to conclude LRIP deliveries by this month.
